Follow these steps to access your ID card:

1. Create an account with Academic HealthPlans (AHP)
2. After registering with AHP, create an account with Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas. To create your account, you will need to use your Member ID number.
3. Once both accounts are created, you can access your ID card using the BCBSTX App. Visit the link below to learn more about your ID card.

Follow these steps to find your Member ID:

1. Visit academichealthplans.com/findCoverage
2. Enter your school issued student ID number and date of birth
3. Click "Submit"

All domestic students taking nine (9) credit hours or more are required to maintain health insurance as a condition of enrollment. A domestic student may waive out of the policy by documenting current comparable U.S. insurance coverage.

Domestic students taking between four (4) to eight (8) credit hours are eligible to enroll on a voluntary basis during the open enrollment period (prior to the waiver deadline and have their premium billed to their SMU student account.

All international students are required to maintain the Student Health Insurance Plan as a condition of enrollment. International students must enroll in the Student Health Insurance Plan unless they have an approved special waiver.

Eligible dependents of those enrolled in the plan may participate in the plan on a voluntary basis.

IEP Students will be automatically enrolled and the premium charged to your student account. For questions, please call the SMU Insurance Coordinator.
